Now that we are in the middle of summer, I have time to share the art done in class during the 2025-2026 school year!
First, we’ll start with our older classes (ages 9+).
Graphite is what all of our students in this age bracket begin with. Most of these pieces were our students’ first drawings with us.
Colored Pencil is a favorite to move on to next.
Pen and Ink is a great way to learn techniques that can be used in both realistic art, as well as illustrations.
Scratchboard is a lesser known medium, but the results are stunning!
When a student forgets to bring their art project for a week, or they finish it a week or two early, they get to do something fun and quick! Here are a few of those pieces.
And now on to our younger classes.
Our Experiencing Art students (ages 5-10) have a new project almost every week. We focus on the basics, such as how to use shapes, colors, and values in our art. We also study various well known artists and try to incorporate some of their techniques and art styles into our projects. Here is a sample of what our students did this last school year. (Our apologies to our students for not including all the art done from last year… There were so many wonderful pieces!)
Colored Pencil is a favorite in this class.
We also use Watercolor/Watercolor Pencil for a number of our projects.

Acrylic doesn’t get used as much, but some of the favorite projects of the year would have to be Van Gogh’s Starry Night, and Seurat’s pointillism technique.

We always do a couple of fun projects that don’t involve paper or canvas. This year, we did Pottery/Sculpture, and students also decorated their own aprons.
As you can see, the 2025-2026 school year was amazing! It was incredible watching our students grow in their artistic abilities and we are anticipating great things in the coming year. We can’t wait to see what the 2026-2027 school year brings!
